Jody, Regarding the story about the orangutan that have lost their natural ability to swing…what would we expect when we take away their purpose for life? Swinging from trees was their mode of survival. It was their locomotion for seeking food, socializing, defense. All that was taken from them in much the same way our welfare system has taken the purpose from the lives of millions of capable people. They have no pupose in their lives to strive and succeed because all they have ever known is the entrapment of the welfare system. I’m not saying their lives aren’t difficult; I’m saying that, after generations of their current lifestyle, they have lost the natural drive to have purpose. They literally don’t know how because they haven’t seen it demonstrated in their lifetime or even in the lifetimes of their parents and grandparents. All creatures adapt to their environment, but not all adaptation is good.
