Beatles Calendar

April 6th, 1966:  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beatles [/lastfm]begin recording “Revolver.”  The first song was “Tomorrow Never Knows,” (known at this time as “Mark IV” ).  Their new engineer is Geoff Emerick.

It is at these sessions where Ken Townsend of EMI comes up with what is known as “Artificial Double Tracking,”  which had become a necessity, as they were still only recording on 4 tracks.  The sound also became known to other musicians ([lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eric Clapton [/lastfm]for one) as the “Beatle-y guitar sound.”
