Rickey Nelson is a musical legend. He passed that gene down to his two boys, Matthew and Gunnar. The boys are performing a tribute show to their father at Bass Hall and stopped by the studio to talk to Jody Dean & The Morning Team.

The boys also played a little of a never before released track from their dad, Rickey Nelson.

I enjoyed listening to this interview. I loved the song you shared. It was interesting to hear your information about the plane crash. I wish things had happened differently. I remember I was in college at the time. My parents were divorced and I was watching tv at home with my sister and my dad. My dad was on the phone so we muted the commercials. Then I saw Ricky’s picture on tv turned up the volume and heard the horrible news. My sister and I used to call into a disc jockey and talk he also went to the same college although we did not know it. I told him the news as he had not heard it yet. He played a tribute to Ricky. It was a sad night. Ricky Nelson had come to Richmond, VA not too long before he died. I did not get to see him. I wanted to but had choir rehearsal for a church program saying I will see him next time. I am so sorry that there never was a next time.
