In my line of work, I have been very fortunate in that I get to meet so many cool people. Joan Rivers was on of those people.
It’s always tough when we lose a celebrity. I guess because you’ve grown up with them on TV and in movies. In some way, you feel like you know them.
I can remember the very first time I ever saw Joan Rivers. she was side by side with Miss Piggy in The Muppets Take Manhattan. Anyone that is a friend of Miss Piggy is a friend of mine! It’s very rare that someone can maintain a celebrity status for as long as Joan Rivers did. I’ve known her my whole entire life. From my childhood to now. Fashion Police is one of my favorite shows! You watched specifically to hear what crazy things Joan was going to say!
Ironically, the last time she was in Dallas, she talked about her death on stage. I remember her saying something like…”my friends are dropping like flies. Imagine if I dropped dead right here, tonight, on stage. You would have such a great story to tell people for the rest of your life! Oh yeah, I was there when Joan Rivers died on stage.”
It’s amazing to me, now that she’s gone, I can recall that entire bit. Talk about never taking life too seriously. How in the world could she take something so sad, like death, and make in so unbelievably funny?
I love Joan because she was unapologetically hilarious and never cared what anyone thought about her or her act. She will be missed!
