Today is Veteran’s Day. I’m willing to bet most of you know someone that is either currently in the military or has served. If you see or know a veteran, take a moment today to thank them for all that they’ve done for this country. And let’s remember the ones we’ve lost too.
And today, I remember my pop, Private James E. Dean. He always insisted he was nothing but a clerk. Pop died in 1987, and ten years later I wrote the Department of Defense to get his service records. Not only did they send the medals and commendations I never knew he’d earned, but I discovered he’d been at Normandy. Pop left the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant in 1946.
I found all the info on my pop through the National Archives.
