Peyton Manning Expected to Announce Retirement At Noon Today

Ahhh – we knew it was probably coming, but it’s rarer than rare that a player of this magnitude says he’s done. Reports say that Peyton considered being traded to the now Los Angeles Rams, but was not guaranteed a starting position… so, after 18 seasons, he’ll hold a noon news conference today with the official announcement at the Broncos headquarters.

John Elway said, “When you look at everything Peyton has accomplished as a player and person, it’s easy to see how fortunate we’ve been to have him on our team. Peyton was everything we thought he was and even more — not only for the football team but the community.”

Manning, who came back for potentially career-ending injuries in recent years, turns 40 on March 24th. During his tenure in the NFL with the Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts, he’s been named MVP five times and won two Super Bowl titles.

Tears? I’d say so. Remember when he was released from the Colts. Who can you look at this and not get choked-up.
