Elephants Retire From Ringling Bros. Circus

Elephants will no longer perform at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. The final performances will be delivered in Providence, Rhode Island as well as Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania shows on Sunday.

This move will be closing the circus’ chapter on the controversial practice that has been a popular form of entertainment amongst audiences since circuses began in America two centuries ago.

The Humane Society reports that although over a dozen other circuses continue with elephant acts, non tour as widely or are as well-known as Ringling Bros.

The elephants will retire to Ringling’s 200-acre Center for Elephant Conservation located in Flordia.
