Winslow, Arizona… forever immortalized in the Eagles’ first hit has a new addition. A life-sized bronze statue of Glenn Frey now stands next to a statue that went-up in the 90s, resembling Jackson Browne – the song’s co-writer.
This new one was funded by two Phoenix morning radio hosts, Mark Devine and Paul Marshall.
“We thought a statue would be a great way to pay tribute to his everlasting impact on Arizona’s history,” Devine said in a statement.
The statue debuted at last weekend’s annual “Standin’ on the Corner” music festival.
Fortunately for all of us, Glenn was once stranded in Winslow, Arizona. When friend and neighbor Jackson Browne needed help with the song, Glenn offered-up that line.
And we’ve been singing along ever since…
