If you watched the season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead, you were part of a massive-maggot-mush watching audience… 17,000,000 watched, and AMC scored an 8.4 rating in the persons age 18-49 demographic, according to E News. That’s very important towards pleasing advertisers. Remember! No advertisers, no The Walking Dead.
Keeping the deaths of primary cast members “Glenn” and “Abraham” was very important to help garner that large of a watching audience.
Michael Cudlitz/”Abraham” had to keep the secret from his college-age kids and told E News, “I didn’t want them to have to process it when they weren’t home and then maybe slip up and tell their friends at school”–“I wanted them to be at home and be able to look them in the eye and explain what was going to happen and how important it was to keep the secret—like really important…”
Personally, I am not happy with the death of “Glenn” and “Abraham”, as this will change the dynamic of the show. For better or worse is the question, and that’s all in the hands of the writers and director.
