Jimmy Fallon canceled at the last minute an appearance by Norm MacDonald.

The same day MacDonald was scheduled for The Tonight Show, he told The Hollywood Reporter,“I’m happy the #MeToo movement has slowed down a little bit.”

Speaking about the recent controversies surrounding his colleagues Louis C.K. and Roseanne Barr, Norm elaborated: “There are very few people that have gone through what they have, losing everything in a day. Of course, people will go, ‘What about the victims?’ But you know what? The victims didn’t have to go through that.”

NBC issued a statement last night saying, “Out of sensitivity to our audience and in light of Norm MacDonald’s comments in the press today, The Tonight Show has decided to cancel his appearance on Tuesday’s telecast.” (Variety)

Norm has clarified and apologized.

MacDonald is now facing more backlash after going onto Howard Stern and further clarifying his comments. 'You’d have to have Down syndrome'' not to feel sorry for victims of sexual abuse," MacDonald said.

Norm MacDonald Has a Show is scheduled to premiere September 14.
