Fans of the royal family had long awaited a proper look at Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. On Saturday, the two-month-old son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was christened in Windsor. Though the ceremony was private, photos were released hours later.

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, head of the Church of England performed the baptism. Archie was dressed in a a lace and satin christening gown, keeping with royal tradition.

Royal fanatics will finally see Archie with his parents, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and other prominent family members.

The Sussexes’ personal photographer, Chris Allerton, snapped photos of the royal family in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor, the same room where Harry and Meghan posed for some of their wedding pictures last year.

Archie was born on May 6 at a healthy weight of seven pounds and three ounces. His name was announced two days later. He is seventh in the line of succession to the throne.

Prince Harry and Meghan had been keeping a low profile following Archie’s birth. The couple has taken a different approach compared to previous generations of royals, preferring their privacy.

This clashes with the media’s intense demand for snaps of the Sussexes to fill newspaper tabloids and glossy magazines.
