How Easy Is It To Leave Facebook?

March 22, 2018

Facebook's latest scandal, this one involving the Trump Presidential campaign consultants who allegedly stole data on 50 million users in order to influence elections, has some people reconsidering their relationship status with the massive social network.

There's just one problem: There isn't much of anywhere else to go according to CBS News.

Leaving Facebook behind, like ending a long marriage, isn't remotely simple. Starting with the little things.

How many different accounts or Apps do you use your Facebook credentials to sign-in with? How many hundreds of photos and videos are you tagged in? How many times have you checked in to a location? And that just barely scratches the surface of the issue.

Facebook boasts more than 2.2 billion users — nearly 30 percent of the world's population, a community vastly larger than any nation. That's an irresistible target for advertisers and, it turns out, for people who want to do some sketchy things with data and even influence elections.
