It has been a tough week for the Toys R Us company as the founder of the toy chained company, Charles Lazarus, has died at the age of 94.

In 1948, after returning from serving in World War II, his war buddies were talking about getting married and having children. His mind sparked to open up a store that sold baby necesities. He thought about creating a toy store in 1957 where he opened his first store, selling Barbie dolls, Slinkys and Hula Hoops. A perfect time when television was taking off.

He left the company roughly 20 years ago and now the legacy will die as the company faces bankruptcy.

RIP Charles Lazarus
